We provide individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy treatment for adults, adolescents, and pre-teens. WCDBT address struggles with depression, anxiety, suicidal thinking, self-harm behaviors, relationships, work and school issues, life transitions, and general stressors. We also treat a range of impulsive behaviors stemming from inability to tolerate painful emotions, including substance use, shoplifting, sexualized behaviors, and lying. While our work with adolescents and pre-teens target these same types of issues, in addition we often help them navigate related difficulties that arise during these developmental stages, such as academic pressure, relationship challenges, bullying, and family conflict. Together with each client, we choose the treatment model and formulate the most effective plan in order to best meet the client’s needs and achieve overriding goals.
When impaired functioning relates to past traumatic experiences, specialized treatment is often needed to address posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). WCDBT will work with clients to identify whether trauma treatment is needed and if so, will provide evidence-based prolonged exposure therapy to help clients process their beliefs and experiences, enabling them to return to full and effective living.
