
Carol Ehler is a licensed clinical social worker providing evidence-based treatment to adolescents, adults, and families.
Before becoming a therapist, Carol earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history and arts administration and spent over a decade working in the arts, including at the National Endowment for the Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Harvard Art Museums. Guided by a lifelong interest in human experience and a desire to help others, she shifted careers and completed her Master’s in Social Work at Columbia University in 2005.
Carol spent eight years at Westchester Jewish Community Services providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals with depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety-related conditions. She also supervised social work interns and psychology fellows in DBT training.
Since co-founding WCDBT in 2014, Carol has provided therapy for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and insomnia. She has completed advanced trainings in several evidence-based modalities, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).
Carol brings a thoughtful, compassionate, and structured approach to therapy, helping clients build lives of greater balance, purpose, and emotional well-being.

Gila Schechter is a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and families.
After beginning her career in the financial world as a Certified Public Accountant and earning an MBA from New York University, Gila realized her true passion was helping people navigate emotional challenges and find meaning in their lives. She returned to NYU to earn her Master’s in Social Work and went on to train extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Before co-founding WCDBT, Gila worked at Westchester Jewish Community Services, where she treated clients struggling with depression, anxiety, family conflict, and parenting difficulties. She also co-led DBT skills groups for adults and families and supervised social work interns and psychology fellows in DBT rotations.
At WCDBT, Gila continues to provide therapy for adults, adolescents, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, and relationship issues. She has advanced training in DBT–Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, as well as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD.
Gila brings warmth, curiosity, and authenticity to her work, creating a purposeful therapy experience focused on helping clients achieve meaningful goals and lasting change.

Ariel Butterfass is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in evidence-based therapy for adults, adolescents, and families.
Before joining WCDBT, Ariel worked in a variety of settings providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to clients struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and eating disorders. In addition to individual therapy, she has extensive experience leading DBT skills groups for adults and adolescents and has supervised social work interns.
At WCDBT, Ariel provides both Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to individuals and families. She also co-leads DBT skills groups for adolescents and their parents or caregivers.
